چکیده

We consider the following iterative construction of a random planar triangulation. Start with a triangle embedded in the plane. In each step, choose a bounded face uniformly at random, add a vertex inside that face and join it to the vertices of the face. After n – 3 steps, we obtain a random triangulated plane graph with n vertices, which is called a Random Apollonian Network (RAN). We show that asymptotically almost surely (a.a.s.) a longest path in a RAN has length o(n), refuting a conjecture of Frieze and Tsourakakis. We also show that a RAN always has a cycle (and thus a path) of length (2n − 5) log 2/ log , and that the expected length of its longest cycles (and paths) is (n0.88). Finally, we prove that a.a.s. the diameter of a RAN is asymptotic to c log n, where c ≈ 1.668 is the solution of an explicit equation. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random Struct. Long Paths in Random Apollonian Networks

We consider the length L(n) of the longest path in a randomly generated Apollonian Network (ApN) An. We show that w.h.p. L(n) ≤ ne− log c n for any constant c < 2/3.

Longest paths in random Apollonian networks and largest r-ary subtrees of random d-ary recursive trees

Let r and d be positive integers with r < d. Consider a random d-ary tree constructed as follows. Start with a single vertex, and in each time-step choose a uniformly random leaf and give it d newly created offspring. Let Td,t be the tree produced after t steps. We show that there exists a fixed δ < 1 depending on d and r such that almost surely for all large t , every r-ary subtree of Td,t has...

On Certain Properties of Random Apollonian Networks

In this work we analyze fundamental properties of Random Apollonian Networks [34,35], a popular random graph model which generates planar graphs with power law properties. Specifically, we analyze (a) the degree distribution, (b) the k largest degrees, (c) the k largest eigenvalues and (d) the diameter, where k is a constant.

High Degree Vertices, Eigenvalues and Diameter of Random Apollonian Networks

Upon the discovery of power laws, a large body of work in complex network analysis has focused on developing generative models of graphs which mimick real-world network properties such as skewed degree distributions, small diameter and large clustering coefficients. Despite the fact that planar graphs arise in numerous real-world settings, e.g., in road and railway maps, in printed circuits etc...
